BATTLE OF THE RED LIPSTICKS

If you’ve read my blog since the beginning or seen one post, you’ll know that I love red lipstick. In fact, the majority of my lipsticks are red. Each of them is a little bit different with a different tone or finish, so I thought I’d share them all on my lips and talk about which ones are best!

1. REVLON Super Lustrous Lipstick Creme 740 Certainly Red
Revlon has been my lipstick brand of choice for awhile because you get great color and quality for a lower price. This first lipstick has a bold, deep red color with blue bases. It is a creme finish so the feel is silky and smooth. This feeling lasts all day and covers fairly well. This color started back in 1951 and you honestly can’t go wrong with 50+ years of history.

2. MAC Matte A53 Ruby Woo
This is probably my favorite lipstick and it’s my newest! The matte is simply amazing and this color stays on all day. The retro matte finish is a bit dry, but I actually like that. I forget easily that my lips are red. The Ruby Woo red is bright and the matte keeps it looking more neutral and toned down than a bright shiny red. It feels almost velvety on your lips and we all know how I love velvet.

3. Rimmel London Lipstick Creme 180 Jet Set Red
This red is a bit softer and a bit more orangey, but still as bold and as silky as the best red lipsticks. I use this one if I want to go bold and bright. Because of it’s orange tones, it’s a great summer red! The coverage and long-lasting nature of it makes it another one of the best reds.

4. REVLON Super Lustrous Lipstick Creme 525 Wine With Everything
This is my best dark red lipstick. In the photo, it looks quite neutral but trust me that it is a deep, rich red. This is my fall and winter red because it is dark and looks vampy against my pale white skin.

5. REVLON Colorburst Lipstick Creme 090 True Red
This lipstick is a super bright real red color. It’s extremely smooth and lasts all day. Before my new MAC lipstick, this was my most worn red lipstick. It packs a punch in color and actually moisturizes your lips.

Final thoughts? The MAC lipstick Ruby Woo is my favorite because of it’s matte finish and bright red. It’s actually the first real lipstick I’ve owned and I’ve worn it everyday since. Red lipstick is a classic color and can go modern to retro. It looks good on every complexion and you should never be afraid to try a bold red lip.
