RUNWAY REVIEW: Givenchy Fall 2013

In 2005, Riccardo Tisci took over Givenchy and has put out some memorable collections (remember his RTW show with models dressed in white that walked around the white sphere?). This one almost seems tame compared to the others and while I despised the shoe and headwear styling, I thought the pieces themselves were beautiful.

I thought this collection taught a very important fashion lesson. The oversized top with a sheer pencil skirt showed a perfect proportion of sheer vs. covered and chunky vs. streamlined. We can definitely expect to see more sheer bottoms and the fishtail silhouette on midi skirts this coming season.

I appreciated the nod to pop culture with a little bambi reference in a few pieces. However, the shining stars in this collection for me were the jackets! The construction is simply amazing and I love the pattern play. While the floral quilted motorcycle jacket was easily a standout piece, the leather black jackets look perfect for everyday wear. They have a sexy aesthetic while still giving you that intimidating look.
