RUNWAY REVIEW: Hakaan Fall 2013

Hakaan Yildirim is a fairly unknown designer in the spectrum of things because he’s new on the scene. In 2010, Hakaan won the ANDAM awards which brought him out of London into the international scene. He had his first showing at Paris Fashion Week and won’t stop making beautiful garments. For a man who “always goes for sexy”, the fall collection does not disappoint.

The simple colors and creative use of cutouts/ construction really made this collection one I wanted to feature. Hakaan demonstrates how simple tailored garments and strategically placed cutouts can be amazingly sexy. In fact, I thought the sexiest garment was the bodycon turtleneck maxi dress which shows little to no skin at all.

While most of the pieces were stand alone dresses, I really enjoyed the outerwear in several of these looks. The leather baseball jacket shown below is perfection. I love the velvet sleeves and how it was styled with a plain LBD in order to let the jacket shine. This is something I would definitely find a version of and wear daily.
